South west of the city, McLaren Vale champions Shiraz and Grenache and further south the Limestone Coast showcases Coonawarra’s legendary Cabernet.

Victoria Wines: An Appreciation
Victoria may be Australia’s smallest and coolest mainland state, but features many small scale wineries in nineteen sub-regions. In the north west, Rutherglen produces sweet dessert wines & to the south of Melbourne the Mornington Peninsula grows eye-catching Pinot Noir. East of the city, Yarra Valley has restaurants, wine bars & many varietal wines.

Tasmanian Wines & Whiskies: An Appreciation
Terroir here provides ideal conditions to produce base wines for ‘mainland fizz’ plus fine Riesling in the Coal Valley sub-region. in the mid 19th century, statute law banned whisky production but pioneer Bill Lark persuaded the authorities otherwise, opening his own distillery near Hobart in the early 1990’s. Tasmania now hosts over twenty distilleries making full-flavoured drams.
